Chariot Wars

I bought a copy of Chariot Wars, the Warhammer Ancients supplement, a couple of weeks ago and I have to say that this is a great little supplement. This little booklet has inspired me to order a 1000 point of Hittites from Caesar Miniatures and try them out!

The supplement covers the nations in the Near East during the bronze age, which is the age of the chariot. The supplement covers all of the major nations: the Egyptians, Hittites, Assyrians, Babylonians, Sumerians, Israelites and the armies of the Trojan War. The lists have also been made flexible enough to cover the lesser known states as well. This is much better than the other two supplements I have, Beyond the Golden Gate and Alexander the Great, which concentrate on one plus its enemies, leaving the enemies half covered.

The lists are well written with extra information on uniforms, tactics and organisation. The layout is well organised with each army getting the same level of detail, giving enough information to get started with any of the armies in the book. The author, Nigel Stillman, is obviously an expert on the period.

The supplement contains special rules for the period which add flavour but don't look like they would unbalance game play too much. I'm looking forward to trying out some games with armies from this book!

No he ain't. It's just a rip-off of the earlier book and the work of his co-author.

So your contention is that Nigel Tallis is an expert but Nigel Stillman isn't? Do you have any evidence to back that up? I haven't read any other books by either author (apart from Warhammer army books which obviously don't count)
